The new curtains really help block sunlight and heat in the family room.  Hannah has started calling it "the cave!"  In this picture she's getting some light from the patio door, but the windows by the tv are pretty much covered.  I had to turn on the lamp to see the buttons on the remote!

Emma looks so cute in the hat that Hannah knit for her!  Emma picked the pattern and Hannah had it made in just a few days!  I told her that it's a little big, so maybe I should have it instead...

Joe started working on the retaining wall under the deck today.  It's going to be a lot of work!  Today he started digging the trench for the first row of bricks but he spent most of his time trying to chip away the cement footing from the last deck.  He says he only needs to take off an inch or so to have room for the brick, but it's taking a lot of effort.  He still needs to use his left arm for most of the heavy work so that slows him down somewhat.  Hopefully this footing will be the only one in the way.

I was so hot after school that I wanted to change into my swim suit and jump into the pool.  Since I needed to go to B&S, I settled for shorts and sitting on the edge of the pool instead.  The water is pretty cold, so I did get cooled off.  Of course Jessie had to get in and swim a couple of laps.  All three girls got in and played later in the evening, but nobody took a picture for me!

Becca didn't really want me to take this picture while she was playing with Jessie this morning, but it is so typical of our house. Jessie is always bugging someone to play with her--even if you've just stumbled out of bed!

After work today I did laundry, vacuumed the downstairs and made dinner.  Becca said that she would do the dishes and Emma got "guilted" into drying them.  Joe got home right as the last dish was put away--talk about good timing!

Here I am heading into the portable for the first day of summer school.  I'm kind of wondering why I decided to work summer school this year...oh well, our motto is "Feel the fear, do it anyway!"
