Let there be light!  Or in this case, let there be bulb!  Joe was able to get a new bulb for the tv here in town, so we are back in business.  The old bulb that he tried last night worked for about a minute, then it was done.  Hannah and I are anxious to see the new "musical" Grey's Anatomy that we taped tonight--glad we don't have to watch it on the computer.  That's our plan for tomorrow night, oh yeah, life in the fast lane!

Tonight Hannah and I were going to eat dinner and watch the Dancing with the Stars results show that we had DVR'd last night.  When Hannah turned on the tv, we heard a big POP and the screen went dark.  The bulb in the tv broke!  So, we watched a rerun of Chopped on the little tv in the office.  I texted Joe and told him not to come home without a new bulb!  (Just kidding!)  We actually will need to order a new bulb but Joe has an old one that he thinks "has a little life left."  He is trying to switch the bulb now.  If that doesn't work I guess it's Hulu for us!

It's the winter that won't go away!  We got more snow last night.  It started around 4:00 with big, fluffy snowflakes.  It got cold enough that the snow melted and somewhat froze on the grass and trees but luckily the sidewalks and roads were warmer and the snow melted as it hit.  It's been mostly a gloomy, gray day outside so I decided to zoom in on the frozen shrubs in front of the house and at least have an interesting picture of the day!

Hannah wore her new Toms shoes today to school.  She and I went shopping yesterday and found a pair that she liked...actually we found several pairs that she liked (birthday list ideas)!  They were kind of expensive, but other than running shoes and shoes for Homecoming, she hasn't gotten any new shoes for quite awhile. This company donates a new pair of shoes to a needy child for every pair that they sell.  Sounds like a good program to me and they are cute shoes!

Woohoo! My blog is ready to go. When I started this 365 project, I was using Microsoft Word. Suzi told me that I should make a blog and share it with her and mom. Since my tech skills are pretty limited, I waited and had Becca help me set up this blog. I was so excited this morning when I thought that I had all of the posts and pictures moved over to the blog--but when I checked, the last 8 entries were missing pictures! After lots of frustration, I discovered that there was a problem with the site. Joe was able to update our web browser and I got the pictures posted again! So now I'm ready to send my blog site address out to you...

I bought the girls a new Nancy Drew game yesterday and I haven't seen their faces since! I got them to turn around for a second to take this picture--it's kind of blurry but that's all the time that I had. They are determined to solve the mystery before Becca leaves for Luther tomorrow morning. At the rate they are going, I'm sure they'll get done.

We awoke to snow this morning! I took this picture after I had shoveled and walked the dogs. The top of the van still has a pretty thick layer of snow on it. The snow in the street is melting as it hits, so there's a river instead of a road. I shoveled a couple of inches of really wet, heavy snow off of the driveway and sidewalk. By afternoon all the driveways looked the same (and they didn't shovel!), I'm telling myself that it was good exercise!

The girls have always enjoyed playing Nancy Drew games on the computer. Whenever Emma or Becca is home for more than a day or two, Hannah gets out the pile of Nancy Drew CDs and it's time to solve another mystery!

I made waffles for the girls today. We had them for brunch because I needed to go to the store since we were out of sausages. According to Becca, you can't have waffles without strawberries, ReddiWip and sausages. We also had blueberry syrup, milk chocolate chips and maple syrup from Vermont (thanks, Emma). It was a good brunch--now I need a nap!

Hannah is certainly strong--but not very flexible! She was stretching before going on a run this morning. I think it's funny that she can't touch her toes! As you can tell, she doesn't see the humor in it!

Joe has been working really hard at strengthening his broken arm. He uses a small weight and does his "weight lifting" exercises several times a day. He doesn't wear the sling anymore and he takes off the shell in the evenings. His arm is better but the strength and range of motion still has a long way to go.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! No celebrating at our house this year though. I'm working at B&S, Joe's working at home and Hannah has homework. Oh well, maybe next year.

Tonight was the swim team banquet at Champion's Run. It is a nice room, but kind of dark so I didn't get many pictures. Hannah did pose with Coach Ty at the end of the night. The banquet is always long, but it was longer than usual this year thanks to the boys' rambling speeches and the girls' tears! Hannah did a good job with her speech--no tears and she kept it short.

Hannah played in the spring concert at Burke tonight. I had to work but Joe was able to go to the show. He had trouble taking pictures with one hand. He sent me a text message: "Can't clap!" but he did enjoy the performance.

Now that she has a break from swimming, Hannah bought Just Dance 2 for the Wii. It's lots of fun (and exercise)! We danced for over an hour tonight. I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow!

Hannah has her spring concert for Burke next week and she's been practicing a lot at home. She is a group leader in class now and she hopes to improve her chair next year. She isn't able to spend as much time practicing violin as some of the other students, but she's done well in class this year.

It was D1 weekend for the swim team. Hannah and I spent a lot of time at the UNO swimming pool. I'm glad the meet wasn't in Lincoln. Hannah had a good meet and swam in finals on Sunday. It's different being back with the kids from MOST.

I had the day off of school today and decided to get my hair cut. I really like the new look. Hopefully I'll be able to get it to look this way when I fix it!

Joe's been having a hard time eating with his left hand since he broke his arm and Jessie knows that there is a good chance that she'll get to do some "clean-up." She usually lays under the table waiting for food to fall, but tonight she was pushing her luck!

We celebrated Emma's 21st birthday at home tonight. She went out with her friends, Rebecca and Hannah tonight in Greece. We'll have to have a party for her when she gets home. Joe called her this afternoon to wish her a happy birthday and sent her a picture of us toasting her birthday.

One of the moms at school made fish cupcakes for treats this week.  She made lots of colors of fish and then arranged all of the cupcakes into one big fish shape.  It was so cute that I had to take a picture.  It would be a great thing to make for the swim team--but I don't know if I'd ever have enough ambition!

It was another trip to the ortho today for me and Joe. The pad that the doctor added to the shell must have worked because his arm is much straighter now than two weeks ago. The really great news is that there is some bone callous forming at the break so now his arm isn't in two pieces. That means no surgery! Joe goes back in six weeks to see how everything has healed.

Hannah had a really long day yesterday including a sleepover last night. She was trying to take a nap this afternoon but couldn't escape the sunlight. I was teasing her because the only light in the room was falling right across her face!

Emma spent a long weekend in Venice, Italy. She met her friend, Carly for dinner on Saturday night. Unfortunately, most of Emma's pictures from Venice got deleted from the camera, but Carly had taken this one of Emma at dinner. She had a good trip and made it back to Athen's safely. It was her first trip alone.

Joe has to wear the Burke pullover now since his UPRR one got cut off of him when he broke his arm. If you look closely, you can see a big Teddy print on the front of the jacket. Ted has a bad habit of jumping on Joe to greet him when he gets home. We've been trying to break that habit, but Joe isn't having much luck with it. (He's such a softy.)

Almost a month after the car wash ripped the driver's side mirror off of Hannah's car, it's finally been repaired. Hannah took it to the shop today and it was fixed in about 10 minutes! At least the gas station took care of the damage. I'm glad that she has both mirrors on her car again.

Wow, Jessie certainly knows how to relax. I don't think I could sleep with my head hanging over the side of the couch! Sometimes I feel guilty that we don't spend enough time with the dogs, but I guess they have it pretty good after all!

Joe finished out the month of February tonight by dropping his glasses on the kitchen floor and having both lenses pop out! It took quite awhile, but I was finally able to get them back in place. Wow, what a month we've had! I know March will be better.
