I forced myself to go down to the basement and work for awhile today.  I spend a couple of hours going through things.  I did manage to empty the desk and dresser in the corner.  Hopefully we can get them out of the basement this weekend.

Joe has had to spend a lot of time watering the grass during this heatwave.  The dogs are always right on his heels when he goes into the backyard.  After a few trips in and out, they still followed him outside, but just watched from the shade of the upper deck while Joe moved the sprinkler.  Smart dogs!

When Becca complained of a sore throat last night and again this morning, I knew that we had better head over to see the doctor.  She hardly ever says that she doesn't feel good.  It turns out that she has a viral infection in her throat (looks like big cancer sores) which is quite painful.  Unfortunately since it's viral, antibiotics won't help.  Poor Beccaboo.  Guess we'll buy some more Advil and popsicles!

Hannah and the other youth from Holy Cross, St. Michael and Mt. Sinai churches loaded up on this big bus and headed out to New Orleans LA this morning.  Hannah's smiling here, but she was a little worried because none of her close friends are on the trip.  I'm sure she will have a good time and get to know some of the other kids.

Chris took Hannah for a ride in his grandparent's pontoon boat this afternoon.  It was too hot to be out for very long, especially since pontoon boats aren't really made for speed, but she had fun.

It's the dog days of summer all right.  Poor Teddy spends most of his day laying in front of the air conditioner vent in the kitchen or bathroom.  Jessie is able to curl up around the toilet in our bathroom for her cool spot.  This heat just isn't easy on the dogs.

Jodi, Sally and I met at school today.  Our class is being moved into the building for next year and we need to get everything put away and organized.  There is soooo much stuff!  Hopefully the room will work for our kiddos so they don't want to move us again!

These two are so silly together!  Hannah decided to squish Becca tonight on her way up to bed.  Needless to say, she didn't get to bed for awhile and the room got a lot louder!

Becca wasn't very happy about going to the see the oral surgeon this afternoon.  It was only the consultation visit for getting her wisdom teeth out, but she was still kind of scared.  I don't blame her!

When I turned the key in the van today to drive Becca to work all I heard was "click, click, click."  AAA and Joe to the rescue!  Luckily it was just the battery so Joe was able to get us going pretty quickly.   The AAA guy tested some other things too (I don't know cars and don't care, so I don't remember what he did!) to make sure that it was only the battery.  You can't see in the picture, but Joe was laughing about me taking this picture.  He should have expected it!

Emma and Jessi hit the road this afternoon.  They are driving to Carly and Abby's house in St. Louis.  Tomorrow the four girls fly to San Diego for the big Comicon festival that they've been anticipating for months.  I know they'll have a great time and hopefully will see something outside too--like the ocean!

Jessie is looking good after Hannah brushed her and gave her a bath (with some help from me and cat treats!)  She wasn't happy with us at all and hid under the deck after her bath--getting her feet all dirty again!  After a quick bucket rinse of her feet, we let her into the house.  She slept most of the afternoon to recover from her ordeal!

Hannah and I tried a new lunch from BK today after our Walmart shopping trip.  The bbq pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries and bacon sundae (yes, bacon) were pretty tasty--and we used a coupon so the fries were free!

Nothing too exciting this year for our 4th of July.  The girls had to work at the pool and it was HOT!  Irene was visiting at our house--which meant a puzzle, of course!  Joe picked out this flag puzzle--not my first choice since it had so little variation, but we all worked on it and got it finished that day.  Since we used the table for the puzzle, we had to eat dinner around all of the pieces!

I made Pad Thai for dinner tonight!  I'm pretty proud of myself for trying something that, for me at least, is pretty complicated.  It turned out pretty good too.  I posted a picture on facebook with a note to Suzi and Sally who both cook much more elaborate meals than me.  Just wish that I had remembered to wipe the edge of the plate before I took the picture. :)

Joe and I found ourselves alone for dinner tonight, so we thought "Why not go out?!"  We had drinks and burgers at the Icehouse Sports bar (tv at every booth) so we could wouldn't miss any of the trials.  What are we going to do when the actual Olympics are on!

Hannah wanted a backrub tonight after work.  Of course once she got on the floor, the dogs had to be part of the action!  (Becca and Hannah were also watching the swim trials at the time so they couldn't look at the camers!)

We went to the Olympic Swim Trials tonight.  Hannah was volunteering on deck and the rest of us were up at the top of the stadium!  But we still had a great time.  We walked around the Aqua Zone, saw Michael Phelps and Matt Grevers entering the swim center, watched lots of great swimming and took tons of pictures.  Afterwards we had drinks and appetizers at Applebees.

We got our new garage door installed this afternoon.  This one doesn't have any windows so now we have to turn on the light when we go into the garage, but hopefully it'll be better insulated too.

Mom and Dad came today!  They are staying for less than 24 hours, but it's great to see them.  The girls, Mom and I went to Panera's for a snack this afternoon because, well, that's what we do when Grandma comes to visit!

Joe's only been able to work on the flooring for a couple of hours this week.  It's slow going with all of the stops and starts but what he has done looks really nice.  Jessie likes it too!

Hannah worked as a volunteer today in the first session of the Olympic Swim Trials.  She is one of the leaders for the basket carrier/block wipers.  She'll be working 6 sessions before the trials are finished.  What a great experience!

Joe went over and helped to set up the fireworks stand for the swim team this afternoon.  I will be working there tomorrow morning and then he'll spend the night on Thursday.  I'm glad we'll get our shifts over will well before the 4th!

Woohoo!  When I got home tonight from B&S, I saw that Joe had started installing the flooring by the front door.  It takes a lot of measuring but he is good a great job.

Poor Becca is really suffering from her allergies today.  She can't taste her pb toast, her nose is itchy and her head feels like it's going to pop.  I got her some different meds this afternoon so hopefully tomorrow she will feel better.

Here Emma and I are two brave girls!  We both went to the dentist today--I got some work done and Emma had her teeth cleaned.  Glad that's over for 6 months!

I don't know who was more unhappy here--Jessie because Hannah was brushing her or Hannah because I was taking this picture!  After taking the picture, I got some cat food to use to distract Jessie while Hannah brushed her and they were both much happier!
